So how in the world do we play in a 14 hole league. It’s very simple really.
- The league plays as a shotgun. Teams start simultaneously on all 9 holes .
- We Play all 14 holes on a single 9 (Front or Back)
- We play the first 9 holes from a combination of the blue and white tees. The blue tee holes are indicated with a blue background hole number on your scorecard. The last 5 holes are always from the white tees.
- Play starts promptly at 4:30. If you are not at your assigned hole at 4:30, teams can not wait. Waiting would back up the entire league. Your opponents will play without you and automatically win all holes where a player was missing.
- When you arrive at the course, stop the secretary on the putting green or driving range and pick up the scorecard for your team. There will be one scorecard per team allowing for each team to have their own scorecard.
- After you complete the last hole on a nine, loop over to the first hole on that nine and continue until you finish 14 holes.
- The first 7 holes constitute the first half of the match. The second 7 constitute the 2nd half.
- Scoring is complicated, so please familiarize yourself with how it works. After the match please complete your scorecard and return it to me (Bill Dell) in the upstairs tavern in the clubhouse.
- We have an extensive substitute list. If you or your partner cannot make it, you will surely find a willing participant on our sub list. Check for people who have substituted recently.
- If you have a sub, replace the sub with the missing player instead of trying to seed him into the scorecard based upon their handicap. No decision or discussion. Just replace the missing league member with the sub in the match.
- If you know you will have a sub in your match and you want a new scorecard, send me a note with the sub’s name and who he is replacing and I will generate you a new scorecard with the handicap holes calculated. Of course if the sub does not have an established handicap, you will still have some cyphering to do after the match.
- All cards must be turned in by 9PM (because that’s when I leave). If I don’t have your scorecard when I leave , you and your opponent will get a zero for the weekly points. If you choose to play past 9 and I don’t have your card, you take your chances that I’ll still be in the grill room when you get there to drop off your card.
Results will be posted on this web site. I usually have them posted within a day or two.
If you have any questions, ask me. I’m always around.
